Papers of John Poole, 1817?-1837.

The collection consists of 75 letters from John Poole, all but one of which were written to James St. Aubyn (the remaining letter is addressed to Abraham Hayward). The letters discuss the latest theater news and gossip, and Poole offers his opinion of various plays and actors. The letters shed light on the theater of the period, as Poole seems to have been an avid theater-goer, both in London and in Paris.
